History of Seneca Printing and Label, Inc.
The Seneca story begins in 1972 with The Derrick Publishing Company closing its commercial printing department known as Derrick Printing. Ken Rapp and Walt Schafer, employees of the printing company saw a business opportunity and pursued it. Hence, in 1973, Seneca Printing was born. The name "Seneca Printing" was in honor of the heritage of this area's indigenous people, the Seneca Indians.
1976
Seneca's annual sales top $1,000,000 for the first time.
1982
Seneca buys its first five color press, a Heidelberg 28".
1984
A customer asks the famous question - "Do you guys print labels?" - And ushers in a new era in company history. Seneca Printing & Label, Inc. is born.
1989
Seneca enters the IML arena, marking another milestone in the evolution of the company.
1992
Seneca moves into a sparkling new 54,000 square foot facility in Franklin, PA. Seneca launches a new venture in Oil City - Seneca Printing Express.
1993
Seneca enters the digital age by installing a fully integrated electronic prepress system. Seneca Printing Express moves to Franklin
1994
Seneca launches a new venture - Seneca Distribution.
1995
Seneca is bought by a New York City-based investment company - Hammond, Kennedy and Whitney.
1996
Seneca earns ISO 9002 certification, a distinction shared by less than 1% of printers in North America.
1998
Seneca Printing Celebrates 25 Years.
1999
Seneca Printing & Label, Inc. acquired Salem Label Company. Salem Label, a well-known name in the flexographic printing world added its technology to the Seneca arsenal of capabilities. Salem Label is the inventor of the AEROWRAP® roll-fed product line. Salem Label shares the Seneca Philosophy of uncompromised quality and customer service.
